Frost Byte

Take a slinky-like alien and put him in a game and you get Frost Byte from Mikro Gen.  Once you've mastered the controls and ensuring you are pointing the right way to fire as you drop in front of a monster, this game can be enjoyable but equally be frustrating if you are not pixel perfect in your timing.  And the game is exactly about that - it's not a fast and furious game, instead a steady, methodical and movement timing game.

It's far from a game that you would tell everyone to play, but once loaded has that "just one more go" factor which probably something about it its quirky qualities

Fireblaster

Woohoo, another Paradox game Smiley

And, guess what, we've even Falcon fixed this Smiley. The bad thing is, I can't really add much more to my review of ST-Protector, the variation is that the sprite is at the bottom and enemies come in waves from the above. Clear each wave and you progress to the next one. Oh, there's also some powerups here and there, just pick up a sprite that is the same as your ship for moar firepowa!

And, because they use the same font for hi scores as ST Protector, I thought I'd take a snapshot of it, as it's much more interesting than the game itself! Enjoy!

XENON - ohhh the memories Smiley

To put it short, it is my favourite shooter from the before-syncscroll era on the ST.

The player controls a flying craft that can transform into a ground attack vehicle in some levels. The goal of the game is simple, blast all the enemy installations and crafts and kill the bosses.

You can collect collect various powerups with F being the most important. Although it is labelled F like fuel it actually replenishes the shields.

The graphics are polished and make perfect use out of the STF greyscales available. The levels are varied and the Whittaker soundtrack is just gorgeous to listen to.

If you like straight scrolling shooting games, this one is a great classic and should not be missed on the ST!  Cool
