Warhawk

Another vertical scrolling shoot-em up ahhhh just what the doctor ordered...  Well this one is ordered with tonnes of mediocrity but there is still some charm about it.

Lets face it its a 1986 game, the tune starts of horrible but then you think actually this fits well with the game and you don't mind it.  Graphic are bright, although uninspiring aliens (we're talking blobs, a few ships and molecular-looking baddies here) but they are nice enough.  The aliens come in waves as usual, but you do find yourself having to be able to have a few nifty moves when they start doubling back and circling with you trapped in the centre of the screen avoiding their new paths.  But that adds to the fun and sense of achievement.

Sadly the levels are easy and the end of level bosses just as easy despite being faster at moving and following pretty defined paths again (see spoiler below for quick kill).  You literally will be on level 4 in less that 10 minutes....

Warhawk didn't set the world alight lets face it, but its a fun game that you can waste half hour on regardless of its averageness.
