Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show is a western styled sports game.

Up to 4 players compete in 6 events with a Wild west flavour such as trick shooting, bronco riding and stage coach rescue. Most events are not too easy to play and take some practice and timing.

The graphics are well drawn, sound effects and musics are quite catchy for ST standards.

I personally always liked playing this game and I can recommend to give it a try, even if it is just to enjoy the welldrawn graphics.

What? Just a few sentences for one of my favorite "sports" games? I should rectify this!

Buffalo Bill's wild west show

Let me get this out straight away: I love this game!

Everything in this game is highly polished. From the very high quality graphics (especially the loading screens), the fluid motion and snappy controls (everything runs either at 50fps or damn close to that), the fade in/out effects, the different Whittaker musics... It's everything that all sports games should aim for. The 6 events that are featured are:

  • Knife throwing: A squaw is tied to a wheel and is rotating non-stop. Can you throw 6 knives at the wheel without hurting her? Total blood bath if you miss!
  • Trick shooting: Consists of 2 parts. In the first you have to hit stationary targets that pop up before they disappear. No shooting at women, kids, the sheriff or guys facing the opposite direction! (or well, go on and do it anyway, you know you want to!) The second part is shooting some bottles that some hick is throwing in the air. Mouse control is recommended
  • Bronco riding: You must ride a wild horse as long as you can. The idea is to keep your cowboy balanced (at the bottom right there're 4 indicators that show how much imbalance you have and which direction you have to shift your mass centre. There are also some arrows in the main window, but I always found those confusing). Yee-haw!
  • Stage coach rescue: Waggle your joystick left and right, avoid the objects the bad Injun is throwing at you by going up and down, and reach the stage coach before the time runs out.
  • Calf roping: Throw your lasso to the poor calf running scared, tie it around his neck, and then stop your horse so you'll choke the calf into stopping. Since the calf will probably choke to death after this, you're free to roast it - bon apetit!
  • Steer wrestling: Prove your manhood by taming the wild bull! Reach it with your horse, then jump at it (be careful not to get trampled by it in the process! Cowboy roadkill!), and then waggle the joystick until the power meter cranks up to the maximum!

The events are not the usual run-of-the-mill crap you get at other sports games, so that's a plus. Every event is really enjoyable and you tend to replay one if you mess it up. One small side note is some of the waggling events can't be won in Steem easily - play it on a real machine you lazy arse!

George, I guess we have a game to play next time we meet Wink Very nice review but I tend to prefer writing short but catchy ones.

I hardly dare to ask but how about a harddisk patched or even F030 enhanced version of this game?

I can't find it, neither at the Patches page nor on Klaz's site?

Okay, but I've gotten rusty over the years I think!

Nope, it hasn't been done yet, but I think it sneaked in Shw's todo list Smiley

The download link in the first post for 69D doesn't match the games or the screenshot, does anyone have the correct file?
