I have always been a fan of the movies, esp. the first one. But where should I start with my review of The Real Ghostbusters?

This game looks like a sort of Commando style shoot'em up. You start on some house rooftop as an unrecognizable Ghostbuster, I suppose it is Venkman as this guy runs lika crap and doesn't really hit anything Tongue

Ok, you shoot the ghosts with a sort of gun and the good old Proton pack and that's it. I couldn't figure out if you need to lay out the classic ghost traps with the yellow and black door on top. So it comes down to avoid falling into holes, walk over some planks to the next roof and, yes, shoot the ghosts. Maybe you have to find some key to finish the level, the "Get Ready" sequence implies something in that direction.

Ghosts come in hordes and you hardly have time to react. Movement could be a bit smoother, the push style scrolling is 4 or even 8 way and ok for ST standards. Graphics look a bit dull, sometimes they are detailed but on prominent locations they are not, such as the Ghostbuster sprite you cannot recognize.

Sound effects are limited to typical YM stuffs, the Ghostbusters theme is playing in a YM fashion in the background.

All in all, I'm not too enthusiastic about this game. Back in 1989 as a kid I probably would have loved it a lot, today my impression is the ST can do better than this, even if there are worse titles around.

Definitly not worth 60DM back in the days...

Warlock's quest

A platform shooter that features small sprites, nicely animated, flip screen action, lots of stuff whizzing about the screen giving you the chance of blowing them away, collectible goodies that seem to do nothing, slabs that can teleport you to the other platform (the play screen is about half the 320x200 screen and that is split in 2 platforms).

Good for a nice quick blast!

From the Warlock manual (C64).

WARLOCK consists of 20 different levels, with each level increasing in difficulty. You goal is to re-capture the stolen "Karna", the precious jewel of the Underworld. Your only defenses are your vitality, power, and objects you find along the way. Your mission is to collect eight magical objects that are hidden among the 20 screens. As you collect the objects, they will appear in the upper right portion of the screen. Only after you have collected all eight objects, can you attempt to re-capture the Karna.
Its thief is know only as evil HE.

Hah!

You know they spend all this time making a game for multiple platforms and HE is the best they could come up with? weird.
