Chuckie Egg II

Hen House Harry is back and this time he's out of the coops and in to the wider world (and looks like a potato!)...

A totally different game to the original, this adds something new as there are now odd problem solving sections, and then a more Jet Set Willy like affair.   Shame really as the 8bit versions of this were nice and worked in their JSW-like way but whilst an OK port, it doesn't "feel right".  Worth a quick go but the original far more fun and much better

Krypton Egg

Yet another Arkanoid clone, hooray!

But this one's done by demo sceners*, woooo! SO it's what you expect: nice technically, but as a game so-so. The game is full of rasters and samples (and naff palettes, as is the demo norm!), but the ball is very reluctant to change course no matter where it hits the paddle. So in essence you mostly have to keep the ball bouncing around and if it wants to it can change course. That really sucks as it makes the game uncontrollable. On the plus side the code can take quite a beating, just look at the screenshot where there's tons of sprites floating around (oh yeah you can gain the ability to fly around the level which is a lot of fun I must admit).

Nothing more to add, could have been a great game, but sadly it isn't.
  • Well at least that's what I remember, one (or all) of the Kral brothers were members of a demo group (might be TRB or Funvision - memory's really fuzzy nowdays).
