I'm trying to play the rtype patch on my Mega STe and the joystick doesn't seem to respond. The title screen says press button to start but it doesn't work the demo just keep going.

I made an Atari Legends Floppy disk and that works right. I can press the button and play.

I remember even the original disk I had would exhibit this on my STE. My only advice is to try again and make sure you don't press any key or move the joystick till the 'press fire' message appears.

Needless to say that over the years nobody reported this problem Smiley.

That makes it work.

actually, just found out if you say "No" to 16Mhz cpu it works fine and you can mash the button being impatient.
I don't really notice a speed difference either.
