Astaroth is a sort of action adventure. The player takes control of a young (?) magic adept, jumps around obstacles and baddies, collects goodies and spells to fulfill a sort of quest. Pressing space allows to pause and select spells to cast (if I understood it right).

Graphics are welldrawn, the YM soundtrack is ok but the game has a few flaws. There is no visible scoring while playing and further more the controls feel a bit laggy and unresponsive at times.

Almost typical Hewson quality. Fans of magical adventures with an action touch should give it a go, while fans of shooters like Turrican should better avoid this title.
