You could say that for Xenon 2 for example. But games like Gods and Chaos Engine have huge depth if you get into them. Secret levels, side missions, etc. Very enjoyable and far above the average game of the era.

You could make a case for the same to be said about Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back, but the simple fact is I don't like those either :P
