I think that Rainbow Islands is a bit touchy with keyboard input. I'd suggest after pressing a key in my intro not to touch any keys or mouse or joystick until you get the "press space" prompt. My fix has worked fine on at least 3 steem setups (while testing at least), and 6 different machines including falcons, mega stes, stes etc.

Well, I just noticed that there is already a patch for this in steem! Just boot the menu and when you get the corrupt gfx, just push the patch button in steem, select and apply the Rainbow Islands item and you're done :)
