Title: Announcement and rules - UPDATED! Post by RA_pdx on 18.03.09 at 16:18:52 20-year-STE-Megademo Introduction August 1989, Atari presented the 1040 STE to the public for the first time on the Atari Fair Duesseldorf/Germany. For this reason we (Paradox) and hopefully you want to celebrate the 20th birthday of the STE with a special Megademo which shows the world what our underrated STE could still achieve! We hope it will be a success like the 20 years demo for the Atari ST 2005 and count on your support. 8-) By the way: Thanks to Havoc/Marcer for the impulse to this project... ;-) Project We want to pick up the good old ST-Megademo-style for this. This means there will be a main menu where you can choose between the several demo screens. Our aim is to make it working on any Atari STE with at least 1MB RAM from floppy or hard disk (>1MB RAM) Paradox will do an intro and the main menu for this Megademo which hopefully uses a lot of STE special features. :D It is planned to release this Megademo within four weeks after the deadline. Rules for the screens
Do you have something that bends the rules a bit? Give us a shout and we will discuss it. Coding package If you need any example sources or a testing environment for your demo screen you could use the coding package from DHS which was used for the ST-Megademo 2005. It is planned to provide you with information about the running system:
If you need some hints about STE coding/hardware we recommend you to read the STE FAQs by Paranoid. Deadline Sunday 29th November 2009 - 22:00 Central European Time This should be enough time for everybody to contribute. Send your contribution(s) to: ralf.zenker[no spam]me.com Voting Wheter there will be a voting for the screens or not is not finally decided. It depends on several things and will be settled during the next months. If anyone would like to assume this part feel free to contact me! Conclusion If there is still something misty for you or you have any useful hints/information or just want to help us with this project please use this forum! http://d-bug.mooo.com/dbugforums/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=downloadfile;file=comp2005.zip ( 34 KB | Downloads ) http://d-bug.mooo.com/dbugforums/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=downloadfile;file=ste_faq.zip ( 32 KB | Downloads )

I guess if your using that shell you wont be needing ULS?

Title: Re: Announcement and rules Post by RA_pdx on 19.03.09 at 10:56:40
@Zorro2:
Thanks for the link to the templates. I will have a look on them. The language you will use doesnīt matter as long as you observe all rules. What means GFA-Basic is allowed. ;) @CJ: It seems that we wonīt need ULS at the moment, but thanks a lot for the offer! |

Well the guys of the old days, that did STE demos from 1989-1993 or so.
And that were not active recently. The idea is to get some legends in, too if possible. |

"Well the guys of the old days, that did STE demos from 1989-1993 or so." <- guess I'm in
"And that were not active recently." <- Last participation was for the previous 20 years demo, not sure if it qualify as "active recently" :D |

Dbug, you lost you chance being a legend when you release stuff during the new century ;)

How motivating.... ::) |

To get things right: the comment on dbug was a joke. (he and his STE screen in the Phaleon are legend already...)
The point is to get people who are not yet informed to think about contributing. Preferable STE crews from the past. The ones that are still active already think about it i guess, so its not about them. |
Title: Re: Announcement and rules - UPDATED! Post by SOLO on 28.11.09 at 06:03:10
Hello!
I have just sent a copy of BITS part to Ralf Zenker. I was searching where to send it, while it was stated in the old Rules posting. It is a little intro, with some hardware scrolling and colorfull rasters. STe DMA sound rules! :) Nothing special. It would be nice, if I could get some feedback, to know that it doesn't crash the MegaDemo, and that it has arrived. Sadly, I don't know who is taking part in the Megademo, so I just greeted some of You with the name that appears in this magnifical forum and in atari-forum. Good Night, SOLO BITS (bits.atari.org) (should I post the intro in this thread also? Does this spoil the surprise? :o) |

Hello!
The logotype... as I don't see the information about it: What size (widthxheight) and how many bitplanes? Greetings, SOLO (bits.atari.org) |
