I don't think so, I get the feeling that Solomon's Key was an arcade machine, Spherical wasn't. I get the feeling that they were by different companies anyway, I'll look into it later.

Solomon's was U.S. Gold, Spherical was Rainbow Arts. I'm thinking it's a very close "Game based on...." rather than a sequel. :)
