Karateka

By the guy who would go on to bring us the brilliant Prince of Persia, on loading you can immediately see similarities in style between the two games.  However, Karateka is no POP, and hell why should it be - anyone knowing the story of Jordan Mechner knows this is the first game, and so you can't expect to much.

Considering the background  of its creation this game is polished, and the animations are good and the game would appeal to fans of the NES or Apple version, or perhaps those who enjoyed Konami's Yie Ar Kung-Fu also.

For me though, there is nothing to hold you play wise and intersected with animations of the opponents running towards you each time can get tiresome and repetative.

For its history the game is a showcase of an emerging talent, however for games of this type you probably want a bit more and end up going for Double Dragon or Final Fight
