Zero Gravity
This game strongly reminds me of Shufflepuck cafe. A little less hectic, and one more dimension added. Its a ball-bounching game where the player(s) control a paddle with which they bounce the ball back. If you miss the ball, you lose. Additionally, there are bonus points to be scored at the sides of the playing field, earned when you bounce the ball onto it. Single player this game is fairly hard, but it seems doing this with 2 actual players fun is guarenteed! |

H.A.T.E.
The game is an isometric diagonal-scrolling shooter. The levels have variable height and the plane can adjust its altitude. The screen scrolls per pixel, and seems to take 2vbl per frame. The players aircraft has limited amount of energy that recharges over time. Shots fired take energy. Considering you can only fire forward, and enemies that pass you tend to have a flightpath that come back once in a while, there is a real challenge in knowing where to fly at what time and/or which enemies to shoot. This gives the game quite a learning curve. |

Of the other 3 games, Recoil is the most noticable. It reminds me of Dropzone (A8 game). Instead, the player is attached at the ceiling; other mechanics like the little overview map at the bottom of the screen and building horizontal speed and exiting the map left/right to reiterate the map are the same.
I didnt quite figure out the mechanics of the game; but it involves shooting lots of fastmoving things that can be identified on the minimap. The other 2 games, Invaders and Bridge-it are not really that interesting. Invaders is a vertical shooter, but similar to SPace Invaders, the screen does not scroll. The invaders shoot a boatload of bullets, and move in weird patterns. Bridge It is a little 2 player puzzlegame where both parties have to bridge an area. The first player to bridge the area wins. Afaik, no CPU player. |
