Hi,
I want to play XJ220 but i can't get it work.
As it's not fixed for Falcon and TT, i only tried it on my atari 1040 STE.
It has 4 mo, so i created a 1,5 mo ramdisk with "mdisk" to copy the game data in. So there should be 2,5 mo ram free for the game.
I launch the game, at the ULS presentation i choose "ramdisk off" with F3 (because the game is already in a ramdisk), and a text screen appears with the necessity to press space.
And after that during a quarter second i see the presentation page, but the ST reboot immediatly.
Please how to get it work properly?
thanks

The ram disk included in ULS?
The problem is that i copy the game data on two 720ko floppy disk. And after i must transfer all these data on the ram disk (i don't have a hard disk).
How to use the ram disk included in ULS if all the data are not on the floppy disk?

I guess the trouble is...

most ramdisk allocate their memory from the start of free memory, whereas ULS allocates it's RAMdisk at the highest memory location possible.

Jaguar uses absolute addressing, so it's loaded low in memory and I guess it will then overwrite your ramdisk.

I'm sorry to report that the updated version doesn't run, at least not on my machine. Tried with and without 16MHz/RAMdisk, i hear that it loads after the title screen once but then it stalls.
What am i doing wrong ?

You cannot run XJ220 from a software based system ramdisk!

The game needs 1mb to run. The ULS version needs at least 2md to run (no Ramdisk) and with a Ramdisk it needs 4mb to run.

ULS+Software Ramdisk+Floppy drive=Fail.

If you don't have a hard disk, ULS is pointless on your system. Just use the original floppy disks, there is no advantage to be gained.

Yes i know, i use to play ULS patched games on my Falcon or TT030.
But this one was special, not fixed for 030 computers. That's the reason i tried it on an old ST.
And XJ220 is not a easy game to find in floppy disk version it was not released, furthermore this version doesn't fit on a 720 ko floppy. So no way to test it.
But thanks for double dragon 2 i am going to try it, with more success i think  Grin

Shw --> thanks for the explanations

Ah right

Well even tho its great to see something "new" you are not actually missing much.

The game is way from finished, and with the limitations of "you cant damage the car" it is utterly no fun to play.

Enjoy the screenshots, thats the most interesting part Smiley

The "original" floppy version can be found on the Guardians of the Past website at the bottom of the page.

The development version was released by the original author last week.

That won't help him fit it onto 2x720k disks though Smiley

I could probably rig up the ULS version so that File Not Found does the old "red screen of disk swap" from the good old days.

My advice tho?

1. Run it in Steem
2. Go "ooh ahh nice fog"
3. Forget about it
