Bank Buster

Remember this game fondly as one I really found addictive  Having bought my ST second hand with a job lot of menus included, this menu was one one of my favourites - for ROTJ and this fun twist on a breakout clone that I enjoyed back then.

Breakout (or is that breakin in this case?) set underground, with the ability to move your eyes (paddle) anywhere, however manage to trap your ball between the earth and paddle and you can just drive it through to the top if you're lucky and agile enough.

Nice animations that you will however want to turn off after the first viewing just to speed up the game start a bit.  Control easiest with the mouse, but whether its just Steem not liking my mouse or something else, I just didn't find it as responsive to the mouse or even that much fun as before.  Think this maybe a case of leaving your memories of some games in your head alone  Cry

Oops, seems like aktiv8 was too fast for me, but here's my review of bank buster anyway Smiley

Bank buster

The most appealing game from this menu for me, it's a really neat arkanoid type game.

The particularities of this game is that in order to finish a level you have to remove certain blocks off the screen such as dynamite sticks, TNT, etc. (after all you are busting a bank!). When a certain threshold is reached, the exit opens, but you have to remove any obstructing blocks to move your bat there. Forgot to mention, the bat moves vertically as well as horizontally. While you can move your bat to the level exit and progress to the next screen which actually connects to the previous one. you have to make sure that the ball goes there too! You see, if you go up a screen without the ball, the ball keeps moving in the previous screen. So if you're playing the 2nd screen and the ball falls down, you have a chance to recover it by going in that screen yourself and rebounding it back again!

The graphics are cute, with the bat consisting of a pair of eyes with green horizontal eyebrows at the top, which means your bat also has a large height as well as width.

At the beginning, the game is quite hard as there's not lots of free space, so the ball bounces around a lot, making it hard to track it. After some blocks are cleared though it becomes better, but still each time you begin a new game it's a bit of a torture and you get to lose a couple of lives.

Oh well, it still remains a fun game Smiley.

just ULSing this.. Love this game quite innovative really!

I've got to the end of the level and you have to bounce the ball on three tiles to make the code "130" impossible!!

trainer me thinks

Hi Shw.

Is that a second code door? The 1st is easy if you get the power up that lets you hold and launch the ball. If you let the power up run out, your screwed! After that I made it a few more screens in but time ran out.

Very cool game, looking forward to the patch

I've done 4 screens

the first is at the top of the first screen
then door is left of second screen
then door is top of third
and then left of right

I think i've got to screen 5 but I've lost count

it's so so hard on the 5th screen.

There are 3 blocks, every time you hit a block it changes number and cycles through 0-9

you have to somehow hit each block to make the code 130... impossible!!

Yes, it is hard. You have to grab the powerup that is yellow I think. This will let you hold the ball. Then you have to hit the numbers really quick the enter the code that you picked up on a previous screen. It is displayed on the right side-bar. Once in the vault there are multiple screens more. I think I was three screen deep in the vault. So that's about 7 total game screens so far!
