Soldier of Light

SOL is your bog standard horizontal shoot 'em up with the odd bit of platform jumping thrown in for good measure.  The game is a coin-op conversion and in that respect is good, but sadly it's a conversion of a pretty dire arcade game anyway.

The trouble is you have 3 worlds (read levels) that you could go through with relative ease and as you do so makes you wonder where the other two worlds from the arcade game are - there's certainly not enough to keep you entertained and you just get the feeling the programmers got half way through and just thought "oh we can't be bothered any more.  Let's write the end screen and publish"

It's a good game to waste an hour on if you have no idea what you wish to play, but not one that keeps you coming back and back for more.  This is the type of game that if you bought this when it came out you'd be angry at full price, but budget wise you'd be OK with.  Thankfully mine was from the Automation stable  Tongue
