Zynaps

Hewson !

Sideways scrolling shoot'em up, from the start you know you will enjoy and suffer! very nice intro music and colour bars!

The game is solid, well drawn but with simple and uncomplicated graphics. It features a powerup weapon scheme which you might not get how it works first few plays, and includes speed up & homing missiles amongst others. The oppenent waveforms vary little that is the games only real downfall, a valiant attempt at an arcade shooter by a home computer developer. Certainly a game that any R-type / shooter fan should check out!
Cool

Zynaps

Any shoot'em'up of the late 80s with decent scrolling and Pete Lyon graphics is certainly worth a mention Smiley.

Then again, there's little else to mention. The game is horizontally scrolling, your sprite is rather big, you can only fire 2 bullets simultaneously which can lead to you losing because you didn't aim carefully and the bullets are traveling to the end of the screen. When you clear any of the enemy waves fully, you get a pick up which you can either activate at once or wait till you collect more for a better power up (like Nemesis). The player ship moves a bit slowly so maneuvering in tight spots is impossible - combine that with the 2 bullets only above and you have a game which you can lose very easy if you're not really careful.

Still, way better than the era's offerings.

Maybe a little explanation how it works?

ggn - yo ought to collect the speed up! but not too many as the ship becomes uncontrollable!

SSB it's either hold down the fire button or space? I will play then you will learn! Cheesy http://soundcloud.com/eskimospy/i-play-you-learn

As you collect the powerups the ident will change, when it changes to the one you want hold fire longer I think this will give you the item.

I remember trying to activate extras Gradius style but I never really got a change onscreen for Zynaps...

no new bullets, no new sprites....I guess I have to retry.
