Robocop

Ocean

Maybe someone else best review this? I played the Spectrum version first and I can't stand the ST version, not only does it miss out on the Ariston music ( unless I am wrong! ) While colourful ( Spec was B&W ) the game is stiff and unforgiving? Some games I have played through with the trainer on, this is one of them... either I got so bored I turned off or Robocop got stuck? oh well! I think this is close to the arcade version graphically but apart from that don't bother, go play Mame or dig out a ZX emulator, or Check out Robocop 3! Cool

Robocop

The coin-op classic comes to the ST, and whilst not perfect a game anywhere, it's still OK to play if a little easy (using Ozz's trainer or not)

Your typical side-scrolling beat/shoot-em up, the game isn't as challenging or perhaps as atmospheric as the coin-op, but still the graphics are colourful, the music is OK but you feel its needs more 'beef' to add to the game, but the sampled speech is not bad at the start.

You soon learn the enemies patterns, where the power ups are etc and its not until the later OCP levels things get a bit more tricky, but you will get used to it.  The photofit levels is good as is the hostage sequence, but  other than that the levels are somewhat linear.

We all will have played the game and all will have our views on the game too.  I happily boot it up and play through every now and then, so that must say something about it?

Well I dunno, I remember finding a way to finish the game quite easily, something like survive till you get the 3-way gun and then take it easy? (also, until you get the gun just crouch and keep punching when enemies appear). Anyway, bugs and glitches galore coupled with slowish action. Meh.

I think it was about 14 years between loadings.. and even that was too soon.

Perhaps you like torturing yourself? or maybe you are on the quest for the redeeming feature, trying to find out why you are playing it again.......... Shocked

I vaguely recall Robocop 2 being much more like the spectrum version

Although it's incredibly easy, This is actually quite close to the Data East arcade machine that it is based on. Smiley
