I was trying to to play Wings of Death d-bug patch from the hdd on my Mega 4mb STE (ntsc)
The game loads and I can start playing but the graphics are all scrambled and out of place.

Can someone help me get this working properly or confirm a problem with the game files?

So, I just got my Mega STE yesterday and don't have much experience with it. Previously I was using a 1040STfm. So I have lots to learn!

How would I go about reducing the memory footprint? I removed the mouse app from my auto folder. Other than that, the only thing that loads is the hdd driver and I'm guessing I need that to play the game from the hdd as the patch is intended.

How would I boot from floopy? My system uses hdd driver 8.2. When I see the Atari logo at boot I press A and the system boots the floopy but then still loads the hdd driver.
anyway to ignore the hdd and just boot a floppy?

Anyway, getting side tracked, I'd really like to get WoD running on my STe

Thanks again. I did what the thread says, I found the utility and made the 3 cache settings 999.

Resutls are the same. Here is a pic. The game seems to play fine, I can move around shoot and things shoot at me, but the graphics are all messed up.

Tried all of that. Nothing plugged in the Mega STe except a joystick and the mouse. Nothing in auto folder. I tried booting from a floopy too. (Press A at atari logo? I do that right?) I tried with and with out blitter.

I do notice that the in game system config says 1.5 mb even though I have 4mb in the machine.

Also my Hdd driver is version 8.20, if that matters.

Ok, it took me a while to get an 800K disk to fit the 1st 2 files on, and the 3rd on another disk. However the intro loads but gets to a point where it asks "please swap disks now and press a key!" I put the disk with death2.bug in but it doesnt work, asks to swap again.

Also, I formatted my hdd and now I'm using the Atari ahdi driver but it makes no difference I get the same results with wings of death. Everything else thats compatible seems to play fine, so far.

Are we sure the version on the site is not somehow corrupt? Everything loads and gets running ok, it just looks like the back ground graphics are corrupt.
