Best Game for ST?

Not that I'm THAT retarded Tongue. I just wanna hear your shout-outs for the best ST games. Here's mine:
Rouge - Neat D&D style game. Don't listen to what others have to say.
Cybernoid - Unique shooting engine, challenging levels, rolled into a 3 1/2", 1.44MB Floppy Disk.
Top Gun - I'd play this on the ST any day instead of the NES version.
Joust - Fly around and bounce off your enemies' heads. FUN!
Bomb Jack - Jump around. Collect bombs. Have fun.
Golden Axe - The King of Beat em up's. Also the game that pushed the ST to its limits.
EDIT: More. Also fixed a spelling error.
Gauntlet - At my opinion, this would be THE game to introduce someonr to the series.
Time Bandit - Self-explanitory.
Missile Command 2 - Good port of an arcade classic.

1.44KB you say? Mate, that must be the smallest disk drive known to man!  The rest of us lucky atarians were fortunate to use 360 or 720KB+ floppies!  Grin

Anyway... As for my favourites I'd have to say Oids, Xenon (not Xenon II), Wicked, Backlash (I still prefer this to the uber-rare Encounter), Nebulus, Puzznic, Wizzball, Paradroid 90, Rainbow Islands and all the more-recent Resevoir Gods/Paradize games too.  There are loads more, and one of the things I love about D-Bug's fix packs is that there's always something new I haven't played before - Quartz and Return To Genesis have been particularly enjoyable surprises.

Care to elaborate on that? I don't remember any limits being pushed on this one. On the other hand I agree that it's a very good conversion. Now, if someone were to patch it for F030.... Tongue

Good point GGN, you've got me thinking now though...  What games, in D-Bug's opinion, really pushed the 16 Bit atari to it's limits?

No Second Prize?  Zero-5?  Stardust?  They're my suggestions...

Oh yeah - of course.

I have to admit that I've never quite got my head around Virus though - the limited field of view and control method result in the game being a little too awkward for me.

Some quick ones....

Gauntlet 2 - Excellent port
Bards Tale - Best version of the first volume IMHO
Defender of the Crown - Ami had better graphics, but the Atari version was better to play

I´d say it was Lethal Xcess. Enhancements for every hardware available, tons of sprites, superb music, excellent graphics...for me the best ST game ever!

Well, there's only one team on the ST that gets my full respect: The Assembly Line. Fast code, original concepts (well, except Xenon II, but it was the Bitmaps' fault Tongue), playable games, what more can you ask for?

If I get to choose only one game from them, then it's got to be Interphase. An absolute dream! Plus it runs like a dream on my Falcons & TT Tongue

I am surprised that the most OBVIOUS of game collections has not been mentioned.
Who here has not played a version of SOLITAIRE from Hoyles 1 or Hoyles 2?

Also a great strategy game called ANTAGO which is virtually unknown. (Devil VS. ANGEL)
I think that it is French in origin. I come back to this one frequently.

There are so many that have merit, such as ATARI games "9-LIVES" with cute graphics, great music
and superb platform puzzle playability.
MS.PACMAN and the SUPER SPACE INVADERS kicks ass for frantic actiion and speed.

I also like BLOCKOUT which is a 3D take on the old game of pong. It has an addictive nature and
fast gameplay.

GOBLINS 2 is just a hoot and has brain teasing puzzlers as well as comic action. You get to choose
between characters and try to make them work together.

For sheer graphic beauty, GUY SPY has that quality cartoon appearance and digital sound.
I have DRAGONS LAIR 1,2,3, and 4 and love the look. Game play is something of a  joke though.
I cannot say how 3 and 4 play since they are still sealed in cellophane.

Oh yeah - I remember that one.  Fantastic 3D engine.  As I only had a cracked copy (and no manual) I never knew what I was supposed to do in it though...

Interphase docs can be found on SEWER DOCS disk 14 according to my records.
They can be found online by following the links.

It is surprising that you have not heard of the Solitaire games I mentioned.
They were very popular here in USA.
They used the midi out to send music to your keyboard.
They are by SIERRA and newer versions continue to be available today, but for PC and MAC.
I don't know about the various game systems.

As for HOYLES SOLITAIRE 1 and HOYLES SOLITAIRE 2, I can post them if there is a place.

I have about 3000 commercial softwares, new, in boxes so it is not surprising that I would have
a couple that are obscure.

Sorry...no Pictures today.
I have been asked not to post them.

The doewich brothers have done an incredible work on atari ST. This game push the hardware to its limit and the game runs as good on a STF as on a STE.
However the difficulty is very high, that's the game main flaw.

It's a shame Monkey Island II was never released on the ST - it would have been great.

I vote for flashback on the ST. Oh wait, that's not out as well. Pity...

(of course I can play it on my Falcon, and soon on the Jag)
